WIP ISIS page notes
ISIS recruiting was a recurring theme during our years in Gaziantep. My mom used to get their ads on Facebook, their black flag flying from horseback into the wind as a heroic score played. On one occasion, our grandparents were visiting and took us to a park. My grandfather eventually approached two thickly bearded men in the jihadist garb and, with translation from my sister, had a brief conversation. One showed him a photo of his brother across the Syrian border, in a group of men with black masks and assault rifles.
